5th Grade Jekyll Island 4H
WE MADE IT!
We are Jekyll Bound!
Thank You!
Our fifth grade students traditionally take a fieldtrip to Jekyll Island 4-H Environmental Camp every year. This fantastic three day trip allows students to explore the ocean and surrounding areas such as the forests, beaches, and marshes of our Georgia Coastline. Our trip is usually partially paid by a Federal Grant that our school receives every year. We found out in December that this grant would no longer provide funding for field trips for our students. This has put our field trip in jeopardy! The cost of the trip is $200.00 per student. This amount covers food, lodging, 18 environmental classes, and transportation for the three days. Our students work hard to raise $100.00 during the school year. This is a difficult amount for our families but they find a way through partial payments, fundraisers, and family gifts. The grant usually covers the other portion amounting to $125.00 per student. At this point we need to raise $15,000 to have enough funds to go on the trip. Our students have been so excited about this trip and we can’t possibly tell them that they will not be able to go this year.
